Congratulations VA Tech Class of 2007!
Today the Virginia Tech held a graduation ceremony for the class of 2007. This step to move forward comes in the shadow of a tragedy, the shootings from a few weeks ago. The shooter killed 32 students, making the worse campus shooting in the US history. However today, the students were able to honor their fallen classmates as many victims received degrees posthumously. Many speakers (and attendees) wept openly and paused during their speeches.

I think whats most tragic is that the students that died will never be able to reap the seeds they sowed. I mean, here are these students, they worked really hard their entire lives to get to this point and graduate, and then they get killed, in school, just months away from finally becoming adults and becoming financially independent. All our lives we are told to postpone pleasure now and enjoy the benefits later...well these kids will never be able to enjoy the benefits. Skipping that party to study for a test was all for nothing after all.
Yeah, exactly. They were struck down in their pursuit of the American Dream, which as you said they would reap the benefits after graduation. I was thinking about this today when I heard about the murder at UCI. I can't imagine what the parents are going through, parents aren't supposed to outlive their kids.
